February 14th 2009, Valentines Day, and today's the day I get to meet my all time hero and favourite band!
My nerves were just shot the whole day, I just went from feeling so excited to sick with nerves and back again. I tried my best not to think about what i was going to say to Dave and the guys, how can you rehearse that? I got to the venue, and had no problems getting the pass thankfully, and remained patient but visibly shaking until it was time. Tracey accompanied us to the meeting area and gave us each a Dave Mustaine signed plectrum, and then we waited a while for the guys to arrive - well worth the wait!!
Chris and James came in first, we shook hands and I introduced myself to them. Both just real lovely men, so nice and charming. Shawn came then, again shook hands and introduced myself, managed to coherently say how much I enjoyed the Belfast gig, he agreed it was a good show. Then Dave came in, and it was just amazing to see him, I've been a fan for so many years and it was an unbelieveable feeling. He came over, I shook his hand, introduced myself, said I was thrilled to be meeting him, and said to him that I'd a couple of things to give him if he didn't mind. He didn't and I passed him a Valentines card on behalf of the Shewolf clan, he responded by hugging me. I passed him a gift from Amanda which he gacefully accepted, then asked if he wouldnt mind signing 2 things for me. He said no probs, so he signed my SFSGSW picture disc, I actually had to apologise to him as I was shaking that much and couldnt get the record out of the sleeve, he told me not to worry. He then signed my Warchest booklet, as did the other guys. They all then happily posed for pics, and that was it. They were all so genuine and nice to each of us, and we left a bunch of very happy droogies and she wolf!!
I've got to thank Dave and the guys for taking the time to meet with us, it was an experience I will have with me forever. I've got to thank the MFC for making that dream real for me. Dave is just a legend!!
