The United States presidential election of 2008 is being held today to
select the new president and vice president of the United States. The
election is the first time in U.S. history that two sitting senators,
Republican Senator, John McCain from Arizona and Democrat Senator, Barack
Obama from Illinois, are running against each other for president and the
first time an African American is a presidential nominee for a major party.
