i know that Dave's favourite arena is the one from Buenos Aires,Argentina ,and i saw some interviews saying that he loves argentina and stuff...
i just wanted to know if Mustaine also like Chile , cuz' i'm chilean and you know ... Dave is my hero
Dave Mustaine=God Of Metal
Mr. Mustaine indeed loves Chile! He has a very special relationship with Argentina where, incidentally, the new Megadeth live album "That One Night: Live in Buenos Aires" which will be available on CD and DVD on March 6, was taped. But he also loves Chile and its people with all their enthusiasm for Megadeth. He had this to say in "Mustaine Speaks" a while back:
"Well, the Chilean show was fantastic! To all the beautiful people of Chile, I am glad I got to see you all once again. You are fabulous and we love you all."
Now if that doesn't give you warm fuzzies Ben, especially right before Valentine's Day, then you must be made of stone!
A few years ago I got into Megadeth beacause of Peace Sells on Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and I got the soundtrack for it. Then I got Greatest Hits, but Peace Sells sounded somehow different than Peace Sells on the GTA soundtrack. Am I crazy or were different versions used for their respective cds?
Well Dan, looks like its off to the loony bin with ya. The version of Peace Sells on the GTA: Vice City soundtrack and on Back to the Start are the same. Maybe the version in GTA sounds shorter to you because you get killed in the game and have to start over before you can hear the whole song! Practice makes perfect mate.
I had a question about the new album's (United Abominations) cover. I thought that the winner's design of the Deviant Art Redesign Vic Contest would be on the new album cover. To my knowledge, the new Vic is not the deisgn from the contest. So, my question is why?
Adam from Ohio
The Deviant Art Redesign Vic contest never stated anything about the new album cover, or that the new redesigned Vic would be used for anything specific in the future. The contest asked artists to simply give Vic a "facelift", and the top three winners were awarded ESP guitars for their Vic creations. First prize won a LTD AXXION, second prize won a LTD DV8-R, and third won LTD DV200. Quite a group of prizes if you ask me mate.
I'm not gonna ask why you keep answering dumb questions about tours and even dumber questions about those questions. But anyway i was curious as to why Dave would let people wearing metallica shirts appear in the "peace sells" video during the "we the people" part where it shows a crowd of fans. Megadeth Rules
Good, I'm glad you didn't ask it because that would just perpetuate more dumb questions about dumber questions. However, I'm still going to address your comment. I answered that "dumb question" because the guy who asked it wouldn't leave well enough alone...so I had to in order to get him to pipe down. You know, a "dumb question" is a matter of opinion too.
With that said, onto your inquiry. I seriously doubt that Dave stood at the door and acted as Fashion Police for the video shoot, and he was once a member of Metallica...so where is the harm in his fans wearing a t-shirt from a band that he was in previously? Really, the fans make more of an issue out of the Megadeth vs. Metallica issue than the band members do. It's been beat to death, and debated ad nauseum. We all clearly have outstanding taste in music, so can't we all just get along?
I wouldn't answer those people's questions even if I did know the answer. How many times can the same question be asked, When are they going to TOUR??? They need to research and read the F N MEGA site or BLABBERMOUTH.NET.
A REAL FAN WITH PATIENCE
D.S. FROM KY
Bloody hell, finally someone who agrees with me about all of this sodding whining and bs. Cheers to you mate.
When will Megadeth summer concert dates be coming?
I can't wait to see them again!
Please let me know.
I have asked you this question once, but I have not received a response.
Will Megadeth be touring in the states this summer?
I hope so!
Hey when the F are you going to answer my question about Megadeth touring this summer?
You are a real slacker man!
SheWolf used to answer all of our questions, promptly I might add.
Email to the Webmaster from Matt: The Scorpion only answers website questions, usually from teenie boppers that no nothing about the band.(Take a look at the question & answer section.)I have e-mailed the Scorpion 2-3 times trying to find out if Megadeth will be touring the states at some point this year, and haven't gotten an answer back. Shewolf was the greatest! She took additonal time to actually e-mail us fans directly to answer our questions. Who ever you have doing this Scorpion thing, he is a real loser and surely not a plus to the bands website. TY Matt
Well Mr. Sorbo, I guess you can't read, or chose to ignore the following statement that can be found in the disclaimer at the bottom of this very page:
ScorpioN will not reply to all emails, and will not be able to answer every question asked.
With that said, you need to watch your smarmy tongue young man. You're messing with the wrong arachnid. How can you expect me to answer your question, if Megadeth themselves don't even know the answer? I CAN tell you that Megadeth is confirmed to play Metalway Festival in Spain on July 28 in Jerez and July 30 at the Fútbol de Santa Lucía in Gernika. So, with the utmost certainty, I can also tell you that they WON'T be playing anywhere in the U.S. on July 28th or 30th. I DON'T KNOW when the tour dates will be announced, but I can tell you that your best bet is to check here at megadeth.com to find out. They will be posted as soon as they are announced, it's not a conspiracy to keep the information from you, the information just isn't available yet. May I suggest that you sign up at the megadeth.com message boards, that will enable you to stay on top of all things Mega without pestering me all of the time. If you did your research and really "know" so much more about the band than these "teenie boppers", you wouldn't have to ask me such questions in the first place. If you are such a know it all fan, you would already know that Megadeth is currently in the studio recording their next album, which is slated to be released late this year, and that Gigantour will run from September thru October, and that no specific dates have been announced yet, or the line-up of bands. On Megadeth's Official My Space, Dave Mustaine said the following in his blog entry: "Gigantour 2006 starting the second week of September, until Middle of October", so may I also suggest that you take the time to check out that blog entry and more at www.myspace.com/megadeth. There is a plethora of Mega-information out there, you just have to get off yer lazy arse, search it out, and trust that as soon as we have any info concerning tour dates we will promptly post it for all to see.
I was wondering as it doesn't say on the site, how you actually join the Megadeth street team, hope you can help!
what is the name of the song and album that I can find, (portion of the song goes like this). "Hello me its me again" in the video he is in a straight jacket and cell. thanx for your help.
Now that Megadeth is signed to Roadrunner Records, A strictly metal label, will the next release return Megadeth back to a speed/thrash metal style again and not as much pop like on KIMB or PSBWB? or will it be another TSHF, where all styles of megadeth are visible like how "Kick the Chair" sounds like it belongs on Rust In Peace and "The Scorpion" sounds like it belongs on Youthanasia
by the way, you're cool enough to be tattoo' d on my back
MEGADETH RULES THE WORLD
I have to admit, I'm a bit baffled by your question mate. If you really believe that the word "pop" and the albums "Killing is My Business...and Business is Good!" and "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?" belong in the same description (much less the same sentence) then we need to have a serious talk. That is VERY disturbing terminology to be used to describe those two albums. Dave Mustaine has said many times that each new album is not going to be "another ________" (fill in the blank with a Megadeth album title), and that it will be unique, new and different than all of their previous work. With that said, I'd say the chances of the new album being "another TSHF" are slim to none. I'd also say that their new record label having anything to do with the style of the album is bullocks...and that it will be Megadeth record that will reflect this day and age, much like all of their past albums have done at the time they were recorded.
In closing, I have a question for you my friend. When you got me tattooed on yer back...did it sting? ;-)~
Who does the voice for the cheating girlfriend on the song 1000 Times Goodbye?
Her name is Heather Keckler, and she was my predecessor in this Q&A section. She worked on megadeth.com for many years as a columnist under different monikers such as "Miss Megadeth" during the Cryptic Writings era, "Catnip" around the time Risk was released, and ultimately she was the "She-Wolf" Q&A columnist that I replaced.
Dear and not lowly ScorpioN,
The song " I know Jack" says:
"I served with Jack Kennedy
I knew Jack Kennedy
Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine
Senator you're no Jack Kennedy"
But who's Jack Kennedy?
"I served with Jack Kennedy", "I knew Jack Kennedy", "Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine", and "Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy" were all famous statements made by Democratic Vice-Presidential Candidate Senator Lloyd Bentsen to Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Senator J. Danforth Quayle during the 1988 Vice-Presidential Debate. In these statements, Jack Kennedy was a reference to John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. In the general election on November 8th 1960, Kennedy beat Republican Richard M. Nixon in a very close race. John F. Kennedy served as President of the United States from 1961 until November 22, 1963 when he was killed by an assassin's bullet in Dallas, Texas. At the age of forty-three, Kennedy was the youngest man elected President. His Inaugural Address offered the memorable injunction: "Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country."
I've been a MegadetH fan for a few years now. The first album I ever bought was "Capitol punishement". From the moment I heard the song "Use the man" I loved it.
One thing is on my mind though, what are we hearing in the beggining of the song? (I saw her today...) Is that MegadetH or some other band or perhaps is it a cover from MegadetH?
That question was on my mind for quite a while now...
Help me sleep better, thanks.
What you're hearing as the intro to the song "Use the Man" is a brief snippet of the song "Needles and Pins" by a band called "The Searchers". Needles and Pins was the working title of the album that "Use the Man" first appeared on, which was ultimately titled "Cryptic Writings". Sweet dreams mate.
hi, i was wondering if anyone besides dave mustaine lives in arizona? i've lived in arizona ever since i was born (only 13 years ago!) and i don't know any cool famous people that live here (or have in the past) i only know of dave mustaine and kerry king, the guitarist to slayer...thanx!
MUSTAINE FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!
Amanda my dearest, you're smart for being such a young bird. Cheers for being a Megadeth fan at the ripe ol' age of 13. I hate to burst your bubble, but Dave no longer lives in Arizona. A little over a year or so ago he and his family moved to Southern California, which is his birthplace, so are no longer living in the Grand Canyon State. I hear the sodding heat there is unbearable, but I suppose I could handle the desert landscape being a ScorpioN and all. I'm not sure of Mr. Kings place of residence, but I do know that Rob Halford was, or is an Arizona resident, along with Alice Cooper, Stevie Nicks, and David Ellefson.
Harris, is Sean Harris of Diamond Head fame.
i dont know why im sending this you never answer my questions but its worth a shot. was the song "in my darkest hour" written by Dave Mustaine for a tribute of Cliff Burton a former guitarist who died in a bus accident?
Never say never my dear.
The song "In My Darkest Hour" was written by Dave Mustaine, bit it is not a "tribute" to Cliff persay. Dave has said that he wrote the music the day he found out that his former Metallica bandmate (bassist) Cliff Burton died in the bus accident which was on September 27, 1986. However, the actual lyrics of "In My Darkest Hour" have nothing to do with Cliff or his passing, they are about something altogether different.
I recently heard a song called "The Creed" which sounded very much like Megadeth but I couldn't find it on any Megadeth cd including soundtracks and bonus tracks off of the remasters. Where is it from?
It is from a collaboration that Dave Mustaine did with Lee Ving of FEAR. The album this song can be found on is called The Craving, and originally Mr. Ving did the vocals while Mr. Mustaine took on guitar duties. It was released back in 1996, but was remixed and remastered in 2004 along with 7 Megadeth albums. On the remixed and remastered version Mr. Mustaine re-sung the vocals for each of the MD45 songs, which may have given it more of this "Megadeth" sound that you speak of. Also, on the 2004 version there is a song that is titled "The Creed (Megadeth Demo)", which was previously unreleased.
I'd like to know how vince rattlehead came about.
Well my dear Droogie, I'd like to know who this Vince Rattlehead bloke is that you speak of, the only Rattlehead that I have knowledge of is named Vic.
Sorry mate, I'm just arseing with you.
Vic is Megadeth's mascot, and he was created by Dave Mustaine. He is described in the song "The Skull Beneath the Skin", which is on the album Killing is My Business..and Business Is Good.
Who does that laugh at the beginning of Lucretia, coz everytime my mates dog hears it she goes absolutely nuts, barking and foaming at the mouth, now we always have to skip the intro to avoid severed limbs.
Its not Marge Simpson is it?
No kind sir, it is not Marge Simpson. Rather, it is a woman named Sandra Rabin, and if my knackered memory serves me correctly I believe she was a secretary at Laffitte Entertainment Division at the time RIP was recorded.
I heard that Dave was singing in Metallica instead of James on at least one gig in the bands very early days. A book on Metallica 'Fuel and Fire' confirms that, but I couldn't get hold of any recordings that would make it clear to me.
Thanks for your answer.
The reason why you can't find any recordings to confirm this, is because the book on Metallica is incorrect. Mr. Mustaine has answered this question before, so I will tell it to you straight from the horses mouth. He never sang lead on any Metallica songs, his voice can only be heard on backing vocals.
What is the translation for the words in A Tout Le Monde? It sounds like French to me but what do they mean?
It is French, and here is the translation:
A tout le monde (To all the world)
A tous mes amis (To all my friends)
Je vous aime (I love you)
Je dois partir (I have to leave)
I read in several interviews that Dave Mustaine is trained in a certain Martial Art, however it never says which Martial Art?
Please let me know!
... and don't sting me!
- SicFaith (SDMF Dutch Chapter Worldwide!)
I won't sting you my friend. To answer your question, Songham Taekwondo and Ukidokan Karate are the two Martial Arts that Dave has trained for. He trained under Sensei Benny "The Jet" Urquidez, and holds black belts in Songham Taekwondo and Ukidokan Karate.
I was just wondering who speaks the vocal part on Shadow of Deth. I could not find any reference in the liner notes to who it was. BTW I saw Megadeth at the Riviera in Chi-town last November and it was the best concert I have ever seen!
Well my dear little Rattlehead, it is none other than Mr. Dave Mustaine himself speaking the vocal part on Shadow of Deth.
I'm 14, just wondering how the heck do I or other 14 year olds with strict parents get to go see Megadeth?!?!?! I tried everything to go I work, clean, worked in fields, save my own money to go, anything! I even went on my knees and begged! I cant wait tell I'm 18 to see Megadeth!!!!! I know there is no age limits but to my parents I gotta be 18!! Oh lord PLEASE tell me Megadeth will still be around oh GOD PLEASE!!! I tried to convince them that Metal isn't that bad. I tried everything the only thing I didn't try was to sneak out which I SHOULD have done!!!
- Freakin out Metalhead
Well, well, well. Sounds like your parents need a little schooling there young lad. Try this, mention to them that the lead singer of Megadeth has a son that is roughly your age, and his son Justis goes to a lot of Megadeth's concerts. I understand that your parents love you, and don't want any harm done to you...so you could also slyly suggest that one or both of them attend a show with you so they can see for themselves that all is good in the land of Mega. Then next time, maybe they will let you go it alone or with a mate.
PS. If that doesn't work, don't say a word to them about the next show--don't want to raise suspicion my dear--and then sneak out and rattle your goddamn head off at the show. Just think of it this way, if you happen to get caught...the punishment will have been well worth the crime. >:-)~
I wanted to know if Dave Mustaine will be receiving payment or royalties from Metallica for appearing in thier movie (Some Kind of Monster)? I am going to buy and watch it, but only for the Mustaine part. It bothers me that i am purchasing a Metallica product, so knowing it benifits Megadeth would make me feel better.
Frank J Gallo
Dave is not receiving any royalties or payment from SKOM. You can download just his part in the movie from several p2p programs, and not have to pay to purchase the whole DVD. Don't know if you're into downloading and all, but if you don't want to support Metallica that's going to be your best bet mate.
I don't know why I'm doing this, you never respond to my letters anyway. But I need some serious help! I noticed that the Gigantour is coming to New Jersey on Wednesday, August 24th. I was so excited that I would once again be able to see my biggest influence, Dave Mustaine thrashing up the stage. Now here's my problem...I just started school and I really can't miss any of it. What do I do?!?!?! Do you skip school and see the REAL God of Metal, Dave Mustaine or do attend school and mourn all summer long because I know I missed an amazing show? Please help me...I need to know what to do!
This "question" of yours barely deserves an answer...it's no wonder I haven't responded to your other inquiries. There is not even a decision to be made in this situation my dear friend.
What in the hell did you think I'd say?
What the hell is going on?? Please tell me that Dave is alive and well??!
I was just browsing the web for all things Megadeth (as you do of an evening), and i came across this on a website:
"Megadeth is an American thrash metal band led by Dave Mustaine. The group formed in 1983, disbanded in 2002, and reformed again in 2004. As of this writing, the band's future remains uncertain in the wake of MUSTAINE'S RECENT DEATH."
WTF??!! I nearly had a bloody heart attack reading this!! I've heard and read nothing about this anywhere, and i'm guessing it's bull sh*t, but, just to put my overworked mind at rest - say it aint' so! :(
Chris, Blackpool, England
This information mate, is what one might call rubbish. A spot on example of why you shouldn't believe everything that you read (unless, of course it comes from megadeth.com). Dave has been "reported" dead several times before in the past, in addition to being misquoted, misunderstood, and his words being used out of context can be a recipe for hate and can feed the perpetual rumor mill. Ahhhh. The life of a celebrity. Don't fret my friend, Dave is alive and well, and set to be playing "live" on our side of the pond within the month.
How do you decide which questions to answer? I submitted a question on 9/20/04 and I have yet to get an answer. I asked about the new album and possible songs being played live, yet you answer questions about the PMRC. I think anyone who has been following MEGADETH since the beginning should know that answer. I know you get a lot of mail so I am not really complaining, I just feel a little slighted. I am including my original question from September.
Yours in deth,
I'm having a hard time dealing with the fact that you said anyone who has been following Megadeth "since the beginning" should know the answer to the question about the PMRC. Luckily enough for the band, they not only have a veteran fan base, but they also have brand new fans that are thirsty for knowledge about their "new" favorite band. Not everyone is as knowledgeable as you about Megadeth, kind sir. It also irritates me that you feel "slighted" because I didn't answer your question. I pick general questions that get asked over and over and over by many people, or questions that tickle my fancy and are unique or different (but still relevant, intelligent, and legitimate). I reckon that if more than one person has a question, then it must be a popular subject. It states here that I will not be able to answer every question asked, so the fact that you feel slighted really isn't warranted mate. However, I will answer your question so you don't continue to pester me in the future.
I can't stop listening to the new CD. It is Great. Dave gets better with age. My question is this: The last 5 or 6 times I have seen Megadeth they basically played the same set give or take, and never more than 2 or 3 of the songs from the current CD. Since this is quite possibly the best music Megadeth has ever made will they be playing the entire CD and adding in some hits along the way or can we expect the same as usual. I don't want to sound negative I love all the old stuff to, but I think hearing the whole new CD live would be an experience of a lifetime. By the way Scorpion is my favorite track.
yours in deth;
The set list is comprised of a myriad of songs from Megadeth's entire catalog, always has been, always will be. I honestly don't know of any bands that play every song off of their new album in concert, that would be rather bizarre really. If they played the entire new album live, and left out some of the old favorites some bloke wouldn't be happy. However you (and most likely you alone) would be. They're damned if they do, damned if they don't. You can expect the "same as usual" (as you refer to it) set list, plus or minus a new song mixed into the set. They might even pull an oldie but goodie out of their arses if they're so inclined.
Outside of me being a bit buggered by your emails, I CAN agree with you on one thing. I am pleased to hear that you like the CD so much, and you think it's the best they've ever done. It's one of my favorite albums too.
Hey ScorpioN, quick question;
Did Dave ever do a cover of Black Sabbath's Paranoid?
About 9 years ago, a local club was promoting a band called 'Rattlehead' pretty heavily, and they said that it wasn't a local band. I told my coworker (now husband) about it, and he said, "You know Megadeth tours small clubs under that name, right? You missed an opportunity to see them live!"
Is this true? Did they tour as Dave and the Rattleheads or simply Rattlehead? Need to know, because it's been an issue in the house again. We now have a bet going, so help us out.
Gladly my dear She Wolf. It is neither Rattlehead, nor Dave and the Rattleheads, but you both were close. Dave and the boys have been known to do a warm up gig or two under the name Vic & The Rattleheads. They were also billed as Vic & The Rattlheads for a charity fundraiser concert back on May 13, 2000 that took place in Los Angeles, CA. The live performance scenes for the movie "Rock Star" were filmed during this metal fundraiser.
Hey Man -Love the fact that there is a online Q&A. I just saw Megadeth in Boston recently and I thought the band sounded amazing. Dave is the real deal and I think his line up is fantastic for the "System has Failed" tour. I pretty much devour interviews with Mustaine or anything from my other favorite band, "AC/DC". During the course of my scavenging through interviews, I came across fairly recent material where Dave says that the only rock star he hasn't met that he really wants to meet is Angus Young.
I also saw that even more recently Megadeth supported AC/DC during some 2002 tour dates and I wanted to ask if that was accurate. Has Dave met Angus and if so is there any interview material or anything of substance related to it that I could get a hold of? I appreciate any info. Rock on!
Big ass Droogie Rattlehead -
Semi-accurate mate. Buggered up on the year a bit...but you were otherwise spot on. Megadeth supported AC/DC on their Stiff Upper Lip tour at a couple of festivals in Berlin and Hannover Germany in June of 2001. That is where and when Dave and Angus met. I don't have any interviews regarding it, but I CAN provide you with a photo of them at the gig, in addition to a pic of Dave & Malcom just for the sodding hell of it. Cheers!
