The new Jackson David Ellefson Signature Kelly Bird Bass was unveiled at this year's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show in Anaheim, California. The four-string bass features a basswood body with Ellefson's signature red pinstripe finish, bolt-on bound maple neck with 21 jumbo frets and block inlays, EMG pickups, two volume controls and three-band active EQ, Jackson high-mass four-string HM-4 bridge, and Jackson die-cast tuners. On January 8, news of Dave Mustaine's public statement about how Men's Wearhouse, the U.S.-based men's dress apparel retailer, messed up delivering a gift certificate he purchased for Megadeth's tour manager (intended for a suit to wear at his Aunt's funeral), made it to CNN anchor Anderson Cooper's show "AC360" on a segment called "The RidicuList", during which Cooper comments on some trivial bit of news or pop culture. This was Megadeth’s second stop in Columbus in 2012, but whereas their performance at Rock On The Range was pretty much a greatest hits show (albeit with the semi-obscure “Poison Was the Cure” and “Dawn Patrol” thrown in), their show at the LC featured the entire 'Countdown to Extinction' album performed in its entirety. Combine that with the most elaborate stage show the band has ever used, as well as an on-fire Dave Mustaine talking about politics, and you have the second best show at the LC and in Columbus this year.
