Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has announced the return of original bassist David Ellefson (1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group. This reunion is appropriately timed to Megadeth’s upcoming historic month-long Rust In Peace 20th anniversary tour which launches March 1 in Spokane, WA. At these incredibly special shows, Megadeth will play their landmark, genre-defining 1990 album Rust In Peace in its entirety, in addition to other Megadeth favorites.

Canadian Carnage East Leg Now Confirmed to Begin Late July

Los Angeles, CA - February 1, 2010 -- Slayer and Megadeth are thrilled to announce the new, confirmed routing for the American Carnage North American Tour, which will commence with the rescheduled Canadian Carnage East dates in Quebec City on Friday, July 23. Slayer will then head to Europe for a run of festival dates, returning to kick off the American Carnage leg in Albany, NY on August 11. American Carnage will play 26 dates across the United States and Eastern Canada up to the Labor Day weekend, ending in Portland, OR on September 4. Testament will be Special Guest on all shows. Tickets purchased for the American Carnage shows when they first went on sale late last year will be honored for these rescheduled dates. Due to venue availability and other conflicts, the shows originally scheduled in El Paso, Houston, Nashville, Duluth, and Louisville cannot be rescheduled at this time, and ticket holders may obtain refunds at point of purchase. However, new cities have been added to the American Carnage itinerary, with dates now scheduled in Cleveland, Kansas City, San Diego, and Sacramento. The confirmed, complete itinerary is below.

The American Carnage Tour, originally scheduled to take place in January and February, had to be put on hold due to Slayer's vocalist/bassist, Tom Araya's ongoing, minimally-invasive treatments for what was diagnosed as a Cervical Radiculopathy, an occupational hazard for the rocker who is known for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing. Right after the first of the year, Araya made the difficult decision to undergo a surgical procedure, called an Anterior Cervical Discectomy with Fusion, a relatively routine practice with an excellent recovery rate. That surgery took place early last week.

"The doctors said that Tom's surgery went very smoothly and was a resounding success," said Rick Sales, long-time Slayer manager. "He's home now, doing really well, and he said the numbness in his fingers had already diminished considerably."

Shortly after the surgery, Slayer's Kerry King received a text from Tom: "Awake and feeling good, actually whatever he did, it feels better."

The American Carnage Tour will mark the first time that Slayer, Megadeth and Testament will have toured the U.S. together since 1991's epic "Clash of the Titans" tour, making this truly a "must-see" event.

Slayer recently announced the rescheduling of its headline tour in the UK and Europe, and Megadeth and Testament are currently on tour together playing U.S. cities that will not be on the American Carnage itinerary.

Both Megadeth and Slayer will hit the road on July 23 in support of their most recent albums: Megadeth's 2009 album, ENDGAME, and Slayer's World Painted Blood, the band's 10th studio venture, which hit stores November 3, 2009. Testament's The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition, will be released on February 23, 2010 with special unreleased bonus tracks.

Slayer and Megadeth have already massacred territories together outside of the U.S., first with four explosive dates in June 2009 across Western Canada - "Canadian Carnage" - the first time the bands had toured together anywhere in 18 years - and then six co-headlining "Carnage" dates in Australia followed last October.

According to various Canadian press outlets last summer: "It was a night of thrash impossible to trash..." "Tales about war, death, destruction, Satan, aliens and serial killers have never been so much fun..." "The two heavy metal heavyweights...went head-to-head on a level playing field. Both bands brought their 'A' game. And the results were anything but pretty - unless you include pretty freakin' loud and pretty freakin' awesome."

Slayer. The Chicago Tribune's Greg Kot wrote that Slayer is "one of the great American rock bands of the last 30 years, forget about genre." Indeed, few bands come close to matching the intensity that Slayer - guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, vocalist/bassist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo - bring to its live shows, having been named "Best Live Band" by numerous media outlets including Revolver, SPIN, and Metal Hammer. World Painted Blood offers a Slayer-ized point of view of our world - God's terrifying global genocide, the chaos of our broken political system, the way-too-close proximity of world horrors that technology has brought us, and a chilling hypothesis of how the rest of the world might view America. The album was recorded in Los Angeles over two time periods, during October 2008 and then between late January and March 2009. World Painted Blood was produced by Greg Fidelman who has spent time in the studio with Metallica, the Gossip, the (International) Noise Conspiracy, Slipknot and others, and executive produced by long-time Slayer colleague Rick Rubin, who suggested Fidelman for the project. One reviewer called the album "the heaviest, bloodiest and best album in almost two decades." World Painted Blood landed on boatloads of U.S. and International "Best of" lists for 2009, and N.A.R.A.S. saw fit to bestow its fourth Grammy nomination on Slayer - Best Metal Performance for the WPB track, "Hate Worldwide." For "American Carnage," Slayer's Tom Araya promises, "no ballads, no acoustic numbers, no slow tempos."

Megadeth. 2009 saw the release of ENDGAME, which has been heralded as Megadeth's best album in years. It's the record where it all comes full circle in a career that has not only set standards in hard rock and metal, but defined them. Megadeth's signature shredding and rousing lyrics are the hallmarks of ENDGAME, with vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine once again musing and making declarations about the world we live in, having named the album after a government document that should strike fear in the hearts of Americans! But that's Mustaine and Megadeth, using the vehicle of music to shake things up, to make a point and to rattle your brain, literally, figuratively and sonically. Revolver magazine said of ENDGAME, "One of their best albums." Droogies!

We are gearing up for the Holidays, and I am feverishly working on more playlists today. I have an appointment this morning and then a slightly busy day, so I am trying to sort out the playlists here.

One thing that you all have noticed is that there are sometimes glitches, like songs that really shouldn't be on here. I appreciate you not dining on my ass for the Keith Sweat song.

Overall, this is so fun for me, and to be able to have so much great music playing all day long is a rush! I can't wait to start developing shows around the week. Some of my initial ideas were to have Holiday Shows, which we pulled off with your imput and my twisted mind. We are currently working on playlists for Christmas, and this is a period that needs explaining.

In the music biz, much like all businesses, people go on vacation over the Christmas break. In some cases, the people that are in the music business leave even earlier than the standard two week break that most families recognize because of the 'school vacation'. Sadly, this really changes the face of the music business, mostly radio and video or TV, because almost everything is set to auto-pilot for the two-plus weeks that these people abandone their posts.

In radio when the holidays come around, the use of gimmicky songs and Holiday favorites start to make their way into your radio or onto your TV. It starts earlier each year, and if you aren't in the right position when these people leave, and when they lock they programs for the break, well then, you just ain't gonna hear anything until after the New Year.

We have had seasons where we go into Christmas break and we are in the playlists and get locked in rotation when the stations close, and we had them where we were not in the rotation. Let me tell you, it was some of the hardest weeks of my life having a record campaign stalled, and having to sit around for almost a month before you can make any kind of progress again.

This is where Megadeth radio comes in.

You can hear real metal and hard rock music that isn't sold out. Of course there are so many bands and only so much time that I have each day to organize this, as well as the programmers in NYC. Today I have submitted the entire Black Sabbath/B.S. with Dio/Dio/Rainbow/Heaven and Hell catalogue and there should be a noticeable change in the level that old Ronnie is being played. He has dominated Megs Radio since we started and I love Ronnie, but I had no idea how much he has done and how inevitable it is too hear him if you are listening to metal. Very eye opening!

I should have five or six new lists sorted out, and the only thing slowing me down is trying to remember some of these songs without having the music. Talk about having an "Itchy Swelling Brain"? Well, it is time to finish the morning and work out before I head off to save Gotham City, er, um, I mean to take out the trash and load the dishwasher

Have a great day, and I hope that this Thanksgiving that all of us can try to heal a relationship with someone, and to make this opportunity to gather and celebrate not another missed opportunity for healing. Hey, I know that sometimes our relatives are lame, but this is about us and not them. Besides I can tell you, you can still be a bad mutha f***er and still be a good dude. Each year, thanks to your support, Pam and I are able to buy pallets and pallets of toys from Hasbro Toy Company, with the help of our long-time friend Elaine Hinton.

These toys are then sent to the Childrens Hospital for Cancer in San Diego, to many of the various churches to help the homeless (they have kids too), and to the United States Marines for their 'Toys for Tots' program. I can't tell you how grateful I am to you for affording us this luxury, to use the finances you have invested in me, to reinvest in our children. Even if it is just a toy, I remember how hard it was for me, and how much I cherished what little I had.

I have a lot know, thanks to God and to my gift, and definately thanks to you. This is just a small way to pay it back.

So, after such a great time in New Zealand, Oz and Japan, I was so excited about coming home for a few weeks to be with the family and just be "Normal" for a while. Halloween is right around the corner and in my house that of course, means having another "Pumpkin carving contest" Guys vs. Girls (for the record, I suck at carving anything, but we all still enjoy doing this) my kids are now adults, so we do this more for the little trick or treaters now. As well, we have a solid day of watching horror movies (1 of my favorite things to do on earth-going to see "The Stepfather today at the movie theatre) and basically just having a good Halloween. Anyways, enough of that.............

The upcoming Canadian Carnage Eatern Canada tour, will have us starting out in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, so my top priority (besides the shows) is going to see the new Trailer Park Boys movie!!!!!!!! I am such a huge fan of this TV series, I simply cannot wait to go and watch this movie. Actually, about half of our crew want to go see the movie as well with me, which will be fun. Add to this, the KILLER sea food available and the fact that I have yest to venture this far East in Canada, this all equates to a great tour leg for me.

I was saddened to hear that Tom Araya won't be able to perform tonight, as you know, and that they are going to proceed to Perth to wait for us and the last show here in Australia.

I wanted to be as gracious and considerate of the circumstances as possible, so yesterday I sent an invitation to Kerry King to come up and play a song from back when he played with us in the early days.

I know that it would require him coming here to Adelaide, and that the band has already decided to proceed to Perth, but I sent the invite yesterday, and I was really hoping that we could do something for the fans of Adelaide and so that the Slayer fans could at least see their hero in action; even if it is with us.

There is still several hours before the show, and I would love to see Kerry walk through the doors and say, "alright, let's play Rattlehead!"

However, I think that the time has passed for him to be able to comfortably travel here.

I have my fingers crossed though. :D

Thanks for understanding, and we will make the best of it either way.

SLAYER CANCEL ADELAIDE SHOW DUE TO ILLNESS / MEGADETH TO PERFORM FULL SET

We regret to announce that Slayer vocalist Tom Araya was advised by his doctors not to perform at tonight's show at the Thebarton Theatre in Adelaide due to severe laryngitis. Tom, his band and crew were on route to Adelaide with the full intention of performing but were forced to cancel the date due to doctor-mandated rest.

Co-headliners Megadeth have confirmed that they will perform an extended set at the Thebarton tonight. This continues a run of jaw dropping shows for Megadeth in Australia - amongst the finest that Dave Mustaine and Co have delivered on these shores.

The remainder of the shows will proceed as planned, with Slayer and Megadeth performing at Challenge Stadium in Perth this Tuesday 13th October, and Slayer performing a full set including the classic "Reign in Blood" album in its entirety at Luna Park Sydney this Thursday 15th October.

Slayer extends an apology to their Adelaide fans for their cancellation, and ticket holders who no longer wish to attend can obtain a refund from point of purchase.

Dave Mustaine sent an invitation to Slayer to have Kerry King join Megadeth on stage because of this unfortunate situation, and we are still awaiting his reply.

The temperature was absolutely freezing even when we were outside and even when we were sat inside waiting for the band. That was soon forgotten as we saw the band coming up the stairs. J Lo was first in and he was extremely excited to meet us. I myself was lost for words when I spoke to the band members, not sure about the other guys. The band members were extremely kind and let all of us take pictures with them.
The Meet & Greet lasted around 20 minutes allowing us lots of time to talk with the guys. The band soon had to leave to get ready to play.

The show was wicked!!! The band’s playing was to the utmost perfection. Shawn got us all riled up as the intro to “Set the World Afire” was played. As you can see from the set list we were blessed with some rare, live classics like “Devil’s Island” and “Rattlehead”. Dave had his trademark snarl while shredding away and even played his new Dean for “Head Crusher”. Chris nailed every solo and had great crowd connection. James’ bass thundered on and he also connected with the crowd well. Shawn’s drumming was super tight throughout the set. The crowd was deafening between songs and Dave even let the crowd sing the first verse of “Sweating Bullets”. The set ended with "Holy Wars" many people were both excited and sad when this started knowing it was the last song.

A huge thanks to the fan club (Dave McRobb and crew) and the band who made this opportunity possible to us lucky fan club members and I’m sure many more to come!

Megadeth are proud to announce that they will be embarking on a headline tour, their first in support of their latest album, ENDGAME. The ENDGAME tour will feature Machine Head, Suicide Silence and Arcanium in support slots from November 14 through December 3. Dave Mustaine has issued the following update: "Well, we were finally able to let the cat out of the bag and post that we are going to be playing on Sept., 17th on the Jimmy Fallon show in NY. I am so pumped to do this show, because I have done several shows before, like FX, Jon Stewart, Politically Incorrect, Arsenio, and the great Dave Letterman, (and there was obviously the rush of Letterman), but few were as fulfilling as being on Bill Maher or Jon Stewart's shows."
