David Ellefson has posted a video blog online from outside a castle in which Megadeth performed at in Haapsalu, Estonia this past Friday, July 16. Megadeth wrapped up its 2010 European summer tour at Castle Rock in Estonia. The month-and-a-half long trek took the band through 26 countries playing festivals and headline shows, including seven "Big Four" shows with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax. Leg Two of American Carnage Tour Announced

Los Angeles, CA - (MONDAY, July 12, 2010) -- Metalheads rejoice: North America's biggest thrash tour in 20 years is announced, as 1991's original American "Clash of the Titans" lineup – Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax - will tour together once again on Leg Two of the American Carnage Tour. This trek kicks off September 24 at Verizon Wireless Theatre in Dallas, TX and will play 20 dates, including New York's Nassau Coliseum, concluding at Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles on October 21.

On Leg Two of American Carnage, Megadeth will continue to roar through its landmark 1990 album Rust in Peace from front to back, while Slayer will rip the roof off by performing its much-lauded Seasons in the Abyss album, which was also released in 1990. Anthrax recently welcomed back singer Joey Belladonna, who defined the band during their heyday, and now permanently back in the band, will be front-and-center.

Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax will kick off the second leg of the American Carnage tour on the heels of the historical "Big Four" Sonisphere Festival concerts they played with Metallica in seven European cities this summer. The dates marked the first time that these four bands - acknowledged as the most influential bands the thrash metal genre - had shared a concert bill.

The original “Clash of the Titans” tour united the three forces of thrash metal for the entire summer of 1991, with then-little known Alice in Chains serving as the opener. This tour, which falls under the “American Carnage” banner, isn’t rewriting history; it’s writing a whole new chapter of headbanging history that is sure to delight fans new and old.

Megadeth and Slayer return to North America late this month to co-headline the east coast Canadian Carnage tour, and then starting August 11, the first leg of the American Carnage tour (dates below) with Testament as Special Guest. The tour was originally scheduled for a winter 2010 run, but was postponed when Slayer bassist/vocalist Tom Araya was forced to undergo neck surgery. But as is the case for anything good in life, this tour was well worth the wait.

MEGADETH
For the past two decades, Megadeth’s storied career has not only set standards in hard rock and metal for, but defined them. SLAYER
In the beginning, where there were no blueprints, no set paths, no boundaries or steps to follow, SLAYER assaulted the world with its new hybrid of metal and punk. Heavier, faster and darker than the rest, Slayer - guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, vocalist/bassist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo - set the new standard that all others continue to follow. And that has continued through to 2010. Revolver, SPIN and Metal Hammer have all named Slayer "Best Live Band." Esquire presented them with an Esky Award. They've got two Grammys, a Kerrang! Hall of Fame Award, and multiple Revolver Readers' Poll Awards. History was made on June 22 in Sofia, Bulgaria, as Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax the "Big Four" of 1980s thrash metal joined forces onstage for the finale, a cover of the Diamond Head classic, "Am I Evil?". The Sofia concert will see a DVD/Blu-Ray release later this year showcasing the entire concert including two hours of Metallica, and one hour each of Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. The 2-disc package is due out in September and will include the "Am I Evil?" jam, backstage footage, and interviews.

So now that the Big Four dates have come and gone, I feel it is time to check-in, say, "Hello" and tell you what has been going on in my world.

First off, when we left San Marcos and Mustaine Music Studios aka 'Vic's Garage,' we had no idea what to expect, other than the fact that we wanted to make a point; we wanted to make the other bands feel comfortable, we wanted the fans to all leave this momentous occasion feeling completely satiated, we wanted the guys in [b]Metallica[/b] to know that we could be depended on to pull our share...

I don't know if we delivered for everyone, but for the tens of thousands of people each night, and ultimately hundreds of thousands of fans over the entire run of the Big Four festivals (affectionately dubbed [b]"Sonisphere"[/b]), it seemed to me that the fans were finally able to put aside the silly stuff that the press has kept on life support for so many, many years. We did several round-table interviews with a member from each camp of the Big Four, and one thing that was a constant and that we all agreed on was that the press was the responsible parties for keeping the feuds alive.

You heard it straight from our mouths; we are all at peace with one another, and we all are friends. End of story - or in other words, several shit magazines will now have to learn how to write real interviews, reviews, and features, instead of causing so much turmoil with us four, all in the spirit of selling their publications."

Just arrived home from our best ever tour of South America, and our first ever for Central America. I had a great time documenting the trip via video blogs, all of which can be seen in the MegaFanClub. What an amazing journey!

Of course our bright beam from the tour's glow was dimmed today when we learned of the passing of Ronnie James Dio. He was truly one of the 'good guys' in this business and a consummate pro, someone we can all take a que and learn from. We are all fans of his and he did many great things for Megadeth and its members, starting starting as far back as his "Dream Evil" North American tour in which we were the support band during the "So Far, So Good...So What" tour.

Our prayers go out to him and his family at this time.

Other than that, time to rest before the European trek starting end of May in Lisbon, Portugual.

I am at an absolute loss right now upon hearing that Ronnie has passed away. I had the pleasure of touring both Canada and America in 2007 when Megadeth toured with "Heaven and Hell" (Black Sabbath in my eyes) and I swear to you he is 1 of the nicest human beings I have ever met, period. Many a night on that tour, Glen and myself would have amazing conversation's with Ronnie about his career, etc. fully knowing he had probably told these stories 10,000 times to people and yet he answered every question I had with a big smile. I can recall so many times making eye contact with Glen sharing the exact same thought - "Dude, I can't believe we are hanging with RONNIE JAMES DIO!!!!!" If you are lucky enough in your lifetime to actually meet 1 of your idols (let alone tour with them) and they turn out to be even nicer than you could have envisioned, that is something you would truly treasure. Lucky for me, I will cherish those memories forever...................

It does not suck to me right now. After a Great birthday in Lima, Peru to which my Grandson was also born on my birthday (Thanks to those of you here for the birthday wishes, etc. I do appreciate it) I am about to venture out to the beach here in Costa Rica and have a good walk around the grounds. Its nice and sunny at the moment, so it wont be long before I head over to the pool and just enjoy my day off here.

We had a very warm welcome upon arrival at the Airport here, and this is the place where we saw a TV segment on the internet about some fans waiting in line to see our show 18 DAYS before!!!!!!! We cannot wait to get onstage and make our fans here in this Beautiful country happy.

"We all know why we are here, don't we?" To listen to a little "Rust in Peace"..."

Those were Dave Mustaine's words before he unleashed the initial riff of "Holy Wars" and that meant Buenos Aires was going to witness how Megadeth would play in front of their Argentinean fans its classic album in its entirety. The wait was finally over.

Let's go back in time. A few hours before the concert, we did interviews with Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson and Shawn Drover in the International Hotel down here in Buenos Aires. The first one was with Shawn Drover. "Shawn, this is Hugo of Jedbangers Magazine" said the press woman and Drover couldn't resist, "are you a headbanger? I am a headbanger!" he said while we were getting in a huge room where the interview would take place.

What is the most difficult "Rust in Peace" song to play in drums?

Hmmm (he thinks) That's a good question. "Take No Prisioners" is a hard one, very complicated. "Polaris" (sic) and "Lucretia" too. They are all complicated for different reasons, but at the same time, it's very fun to play them."

Due to logistical problems with getting Megadeths gear into Ecuador, the band has been forced to postpone the scheduled show on Tuesday, May 4 in Quito. Droogies!

I just landed in Santiago, Chile and lemme tell you we are so pumped to be back here, it's sick!!!

Last night in Buenos Aires, Argentina we had another of those once in a lifetime shows, and the funny thing is that Chile and Argentina are so close together geographically that you can't come to one country and not play the other. And as far as the fans go, Chile has always been a proud audience, and we have always loved them, and they have always been up at the top of our list with the Argentinians.

Which brings me to something very important, and that is loving our fans, and the idiots who spread rumors about us cancelling shows. On this tour we are going to several new countries, and some that we have only played once before. And never do we cancel a show once we are in the country, and in this case South America.

You see, there has been a rumor floating around that we are not coming to Quito, Ecuador, and that is the biggest mountain of horse manure I have ever heard. It must have been started by someone who is very, very afraid of Megs!

I just want you to know that you better go get your tickets now! Because when we get there and you say, "I don't have a ticket," or "I didn't trust you," or "I didn't believe that you were coming to this country," it will be too late once the tickets are all gone. What does Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, have right now that Ecuador doesn't? Tickets to one of the best Megadeth concerts ever.

I mean, if you are going to miss a concert, miss some other band, don't miss the 20th Anniversary of RIP because it won't be back here ever again.

SONISPHERE LOCATION IN CZECH REPUBLIC CHANGED

Megadeth would like to send out their sincere condolences to the family and friends of a fallen Droogie, Jeffrey Hendricks. Jeffrey passed away on Friday, March 26 after a battle with cancer. Jeffrey was to attend the Megadeth concert and meet 'n greet in Memphis, Tennessee on March 23 but went into critical condition the night before and was not able to attend. After hearing the news that Jeffrey wouldn't be able to attend the show, Dave Mustaine and the band gave Jeffrey a very special phone call. Jeffrey had met the band at a Megadeth concert in Knoxville in November 2009. The family has expressed their gratitude to Dave and the band for meeting and spending time with Jeffrey last November and for calling him Tuesday. They said that getting to meet and talk with the band really brightened the last six months of Jeffreys life, and they'll always be extremely grateful for it.

David Ellefson has exclusively told Classic Rock about the motivations behind his return to Megadeth, after an eight-year absence. It literally happened over the weekend, says the delighted bassist. Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has announced the return of original bassist David Ellefson (1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group. This reunion is appropriately timed to Megadeth’s upcoming historic month-long Rust In Peace 20th anniversary tour which launches March 1 in Spokane, WA. At these incredibly special shows, Megadeth will play their landmark, genre-defining 1990 album Rust In Peace in its entirety, in addition to other Megadeth favorites.

"This shows the power of brotherly love and forgiveness,” Mustaine says. “David Ellefson belongs in Megadeth. Next we are going to show you the power of getting your asses kicked...HARD!"

SLAYER, MEGADETH, TESTAMENT ANNOUNCE NEW DATES FOR THE "AMERICAN CARNAGE" NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
Canadian Carnage East Leg Now Confirmed to Begin Late July

Los Angeles, CA - February 1, 2010 -- Slayer and Megadeth are thrilled to announce the new, confirmed routing for the American Carnage North American Tour, which will commence with the rescheduled Canadian Carnage East dates in Quebec City on Friday, July 23. Slayer will then head to Europe for a run of festival dates, returning to kick off the American Carnage leg in Albany, NY on August 11. American Carnage will play 26 dates across the United States and Eastern Canada up to the Labor Day weekend, ending in Portland, OR on September 4. Testament will be Special Guest on all shows. Tickets purchased for the American Carnage shows when they first went on sale late last year will be honored for these rescheduled dates. Due to venue availability and other conflicts, the shows originally scheduled in El Paso, Houston, Nashville, Duluth, and Louisville cannot be rescheduled at this time, and ticket holders may obtain refunds at point of purchase. However, new cities have been added to the American Carnage itinerary, with dates now scheduled in Cleveland, Kansas City, San Diego, and Sacramento. The confirmed, complete itinerary is below.

The American Carnage Tour, originally scheduled to take place in January and February, had to be put on hold due to Slayer's vocalist/bassist, Tom Araya's ongoing, minimally-invasive treatments for what was diagnosed as a Cervical Radiculopathy, an occupational hazard for the rocker who is known for aggressively swinging his long mane of hair while performing. Right after the first of the year, Araya made the difficult decision to undergo a surgical procedure, called an Anterior Cervical Discectomy with Fusion, a relatively routine practice with an excellent recovery rate. That surgery took place early last week.

"The doctors said that Tom's surgery went very smoothly and was a resounding success," said Rick Sales, long-time Slayer manager. "He's home now, doing really well, and he said the numbness in his fingers had already diminished considerably."

Shortly after the surgery, Slayer's Kerry King received a text from Tom: "Awake and feeling good, actually whatever he did, it feels better."

The American Carnage Tour will mark the first time that Slayer, Megadeth and Testament will have toured the U.S. together since 1991's epic "Clash of the Titans" tour, making this truly a "must-see" event.

Slayer recently announced the rescheduling of its headline tour in the UK and Europe, and Megadeth and Testament are currently on tour together playing U.S. cities that will not be on the American Carnage itinerary.

Both Megadeth and Slayer will hit the road on July 23 in support of their most recent albums: Megadeth's 2009 album, ENDGAME, and Slayer's World Painted Blood, the band's 10th studio venture, which hit stores November 3, 2009. Testament's The Formation of Damnation: Special Tour Edition, will be released on February 23, 2010 with special unreleased bonus tracks.

Slayer and Megadeth have already massacred territories together outside of the U.S., first with four explosive dates in June 2009 across Western Canada - "Canadian Carnage" - the first time the bands had toured together anywhere in 18 years - and then six co-headlining "Carnage" dates in Australia followed last October.

According to various Canadian press outlets last summer: "It was a night of thrash impossible to trash..." "Tales about war, death, destruction, Satan, aliens and serial killers have never been so much fun..." "The two heavy metal heavyweights...went head-to-head on a level playing field. Both bands brought their 'A' game. And the results were anything but pretty - unless you include pretty freakin' loud and pretty freakin' awesome."

Slayer. The Chicago Tribune's Greg Kot wrote that Slayer is "one of the great American rock bands of the last 30 years, forget about genre." Indeed, few bands come close to matching the intensity that Slayer - guitarists Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman, vocalist/bassist Tom Araya, and drummer Dave Lombardo - bring to its live shows, having been named "Best Live Band" by numerous media outlets including Revolver, SPIN, and Metal Hammer. World Painted Blood offers a Slayer-ized point of view of our world - God's terrifying global genocide, the chaos of our broken political system, the way-too-close proximity of world horrors that technology has brought us, and a chilling hypothesis of how the rest of the world might view America. The album was recorded in Los Angeles over two time periods, during October 2008 and then between late January and March 2009. World Painted Blood was produced by Greg Fidelman who has spent time in the studio with Metallica, the Gossip, the (International) Noise Conspiracy, Slipknot and others, and executive produced by long-time Slayer colleague Rick Rubin, who suggested Fidelman for the project. One reviewer called the album "the heaviest, bloodiest and best album in almost two decades." World Painted Blood landed on boatloads of U.S. and International "Best of" lists for 2009, and N.A.R.A.S. saw fit to bestow its fourth Grammy nomination on Slayer - Best Metal Performance for the WPB track, "Hate Worldwide." For "American Carnage," Slayer's Tom Araya promises, "no ballads, no acoustic numbers, no slow tempos."

Megadeth. 2009 saw the release of ENDGAME, which has been heralded as Megadeth's best album in years. It's the record where it all comes full circle in a career that has not only set standards in hard rock and metal, but defined them. Megadeth's signature shredding and rousing lyrics are the hallmarks of ENDGAME, with vocalist/guitarist Dave Mustaine once again musing and making declarations about the world we live in, having named the album after a government document that should strike fear in the hearts of Americans! But that's Mustaine and Megadeth, using the vehicle of music to shake things up, to make a point and to rattle your brain, literally, figuratively and sonically. Revolver magazine said of ENDGAME, "One of their best albums." VH1's 'That Metal Show' deemed it "One of the metal albums of the year," and Popmatters said, "the record positively scorches with an intensity not heard since Rust in Peace." Harmony Central conducted an interview with Dave Mustaine at the Marshall booth at this year's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, which is being held January 14-17, 2010 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California. Dave will be signing autographs at the Dean Guitars booth (booth 5466B) on Friday, January 15th at 12:30pm - 2:00pm and on Saturday, January 16th at 3:00pm - 4:30pm. Dave Mustaine was in New York City, NY last night (Tuesday, January 12) to tape the first episode of Season 4 of VH1's 'That Metal Show' a talk show hosted by Eddie Trunk with co-hosts Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson. The show focuses on discussions and debates about "all things hard rock & heavy metal", past and present. AMERICAN CARNAGE TOUR POSTPONED

The much anticipated American Carnage tour, featuring hard rock behemoths Megadeth, Slayer and Testament has been postponed as Slayers bassist/vocalist Tom Araya is in need of back surgery. While disappointed by the tours delay, Megadeth are concerned for Araya and wish him a speedy recovery. Megadeth are currently scheduling a U.S. headline run for March and April, and are rescheduling the American Carnage tour for Summer 10.
